Hello All,
I promise to have some prints up soon! I made my first one today but haven’t had the time to scan it in yet. This summer will be all prints… but I will definitely have more paintings (and some ceramics) up this fall.
Thanks for your patience!

Posted in Mixed Media, Shows on April 10, 2008 by iheartaaartthese pieces are meant to be individual portraits of people I love. The first was a scent portrait… for more information on it, see previous post. The second were skin portraits. The third was a blood portrait – representational of family, sacrifice, and love. Here they are as a series:
“The Chicken is Here” Intermedia Show is on the 29th of April at the Jan Dempsey Center of Arts at 7pm.
Russell County Project
Posted in Russell County Project on April 7, 2008 by iheartaaartHere are some pictures of the church. It still has significant smoke damage. Sadly, the church was a victim of arson at the beginning of the year so I am building them a stained glass sculpture in collaboration with some of the members. Pictures of it will be up shortly because the show it’s in is in two weeks (ack!). It will be in Russell County on the 17th and the Museum of Fine Arts in Auburn, AL on the 25th — Come see everyone’s work, it should be great!

Posted in Mixed Media, Shows on January 31, 2008 by iheartaaartLike Felix Gonzalez-Torrez’s piece [Untitled (Portrait of Ross)], (http://www.artic.edu/aic/collections/citi/object?id=152961 a portrait in which he exactly equaled Ross’s body weight in individually wrapped candies… the viewer is encouraged to take a piece of Ross at each exhibit and Ross is continuously replentished), this piece is an individual portrait of 6 people I love. This piece is interactive like Torrez’s but involves the sense of scent to portray each person rather than taste or color. Each person is someone who I love but am forced to be separated from for long periods at a time and thus miss them all often. I find myself attaching to scent memories most often. Each person was asked to send me a white shirt that had been worn. Each shirt was unique in style and scent but was uniformly white, symbolizing their unique identities to me but their shared relationship through me. Polaroids were taken of the shirts to show the differing style of each. The shirts were then placed in nondescript white bags on the wall just above eye level. The height of the piece forces the viewer to interact with each of the portraits intimately by taking them down and smelling them and returning them to their designated hook. Each portrait is simply titled the person’s name: Mom, Emmy, Becca, Dwayne, Cari, and Court

Posted in Shows on December 20, 2007 by iheartaaartClick here to view the most recent show my work has been in. Lots of really good, powerful artwork in it… lots of really talented artists. The show was called “Instant Headlines” (Gallery RFD) and called for art that speaks on how Headlines of the past and present influence our daily lives.
